Site Changes for 2011

Some significant changes have been made to my Eagles team sites for the 2011 season. Changes were made to:

• All Pages
• Team Sites
• Resource Pages

Important Note for New Users : if you have never used a Georgetown Eagles team site made by Chuck Upsdell, you should instead read the special report for new users.

All Pages

These changes have been made in all pages:

• Modern pages are friendlier to mobile devices, such as web-enabled smartphones, but only with sufficiently capable mobile browsers. It is not possible to test pages with all smartphones: however, testing with emulators suggests that pages should work with (a) the Opera Mini and Opera Mobile browsers, which are available for a vast number of cellphones, (b) the Apple iPhone and iPad browsers, and (c) browsers which use Apple’s WebKit browser engine, for example on Android-based smartphones.
• Modern pages are not tested with Internet Explorer 5, an obsolete browser which Microsoft no longer supports and which therefore has unfixed security bugs. Internet Explorer 5 is also much less capable than more modern browsers, with very poor support of standards.

Team Sites

Additional changes have been made in team sites:

• There is now a single OUR TEAM menu, instead of one menu for pages with team information, and a second menu for pages with schedules.

• A button going to the Ontario Baseball Association (OBA) website has been added to each team’s News/Home page:

  

• The Confidential page now lists uniform numbers for coaches and players.

• The Calendar and What’s Up pages are now as wide as possible in order to make more room for text within their calendars. All other pages remain as they were, with page widths limited to make text easier to read.

Resource Pages

Other changes have been made in the resource pages, which offers information useful to all teams:

• A new Tournaments page has been added with tournament information formerly appearing on the Reports page.

• The Help/FAQ page has been revamped, to clarify and expand the FAQs available.
