Special Report - Mississauga Southwest Tournament

Our team played well in two tough games, with one close win, and one close loss. In our third game, however — a night game — the lights to the field went out and the game had to be ended with no official score: this game was not continued the next day because by this time neither of the teams could have advanced to the semi-finals.

This tournament took place July 16-18, with 16 teams competing:

  • Blue Division: Bolton Braves, Cambridge Cubs, Kitchener A’s, Mississauga Southwest Twins.
  • Gold Division: Mississauga Majors, Mississauga North Bengals, Richmond Hill Phoenix, Whitby Chiefs.
  • Silver Division: Mississauga North Wildcats, Oakville A’s, Pickering Red Sox, Riverside.
  • White Division: Ajax Spartans, Burlington Bulls, Guelph Royals, Mississauga North Panthers.

Our game results were:

  • Majors vs Mississauga North Bengals: won 8-5. We made a few critical errors at the beginning of the game that gave the Bengals an early lead, but we didn’t give up, pulling ahead of them in the final innings.
  • Majors vs Richmond Hill Phoenix: lost 5-6. We again made a few critical errors at the beginning of the game, giving the Phoenix a small lead, but we played hard and pulled ahead of them in the top of the last inning, only to see victory slip away as the Phoenix regained their lead.
  • Majors vs Whitby Chiefs: no official score. We made a lot of errors and were behind 3-7 when the lights to the field failed and the game had to be stopped.

The games were played at Clarkson Park, 9th Line Sports Park, and South Common Park.
