Special Report - Richmond Hill Tournament
Our team played well in this tournament, earning a spot in the quarter-finals.
This tournament took place July 30 to August 1, with 16 teams competing:
- Division I: Agincourt A’s, Brampton Braves, North York Blues, Pickering Pirates
- Division II: East Toronto Dodgers, Mississauga Majors, Richmond Hill Phoenix, Toronto Playgrounds
- Division III: Cambridge Cubs, Mississauga North Bengals, Peterborough Tigers, Pickering Red Sox
- Division IV: Burlington Bulls, Kitchener A’s, Oakville A’s, Windsor Riverside
Our game results were:
- Majors vs East Toronto Dodgers: won 13-2. We overwhelmed the Dodgers right from the start. We could have
scored many more runs, but the coaches told our team to hold back in the last 3 innings.
- Majors vs Toronto Playgrounds: won 7-3. Our batting was weak, and many of our runs were unearned. This
victory clinched us a position in the quarter-finals.
- Majors vs Richmond Hill Phoenix: lost 2-12. We could have done much better, but since we were advancing to the
quarter-finals regardless of this game’s results, the coaches opted to use this game to give some players
practice in playing unaccustomed positions.
- Majors vs North York Blues: lost 2-4. We would have won this game except for a small number of critical errors.
The loss prevented us from advancing to the semi-finals.
The games were played at:
- Bishop’s Cross: north side of John St. between Highway 404 and Leslie St. / Don Mills Rd.
- Richmond Green: north-west corner of Elgin Mills and Leslie St.
