Special Report - Scarborough Tournament
We reached the semi-finals in the Scarborough Tournament.
This tournament took place June 25-27, with 12 teams competing:
- Division A: Georgetown, Thornhill, West Hill, Whitby
- Division B: Cambridge, East Toronto, Pickering, Wexford
- Division C: Agincourt, Barrie, Mississauga Majors, Peterborough
Our game results were:
- Majors vs Agincourt: won 11-1. We led by a few runs throughout the game, then buried Agincourt in a hailstorm
of runs in the final innings, winning a decisive victory.
- Majors vs Barrie: lost 0-5. We played a very close game for most of the game, and could have won, but near the
end we made some critical errors that enabled Barrie to cinch its win.
- Majors vs Peterborough: won 5-4. We were behind for most of the game, but we never gave up, and in the last
inning we exploded with a flurry of runs that earned us a dramatic win.
- Majors vs Pickering: lost 2-14. We were neck-and-neck for most of the game, with a 1-2 score at the end of
the fifth inning, and a good chance for a win against a very tough team; but a series of costly blunders in the last two
innings gave our opponent an overwhelming lead.
The games were played at:
- Heron Park:
corner of Lawrence Ave. E & Manse Rd., east of Morningside.
- Highview Park:
corner of Kennedy Rd. & Highview Ave., south of St. Clair.
- Wishing Well Park:
Pharmacy Ave. north of the 401, access from Pharmacy.
