About Dave Dash
David Archibald Dash was actively involved with youth baseball in Brampton for more than 40 years until his untimely death in November 2004
due to a long battle with Leukemia. He had served as an invaluable member of Brampton Minor Baseball in the capacity of President,
Umpire-in-Chief, and Executive Member and coach. David had served Central Ontario Baseball as a Director, Vice-President and President. He had
also served as a Director for Baseball Ontario.
Dave’s awards were numerous: The Paul Harris Fellowship Award (Rotary Club), Brampton Citizen’s Award, Government of Canada Certificate
of Merit, the President’s Award (Brampton Minor Baseball Inc.), the Jack Campbell Award (Brampton Minor Baseball Inc.), and Outstanding
Achievement Award by a Director (Baseball Ontario).
David’s enormous contribution to youth baseball is recognized by Baseball Ontario and the Toronto Blue Jays with a trophy that bears his
name. This trophy is awarded at the annual Baseball Ontario/Toronto Blue Jays Junior All-Star Tournament.
As a coach in Brampton Minor Baseball Inc. he guided several house league and rep teams to their championships. Notwithstanding David’s
first love was baseball, he still found time to referee for Brampton Minor Hockey for ten years.
David was instrumental in the modification and updating of the Community Group Affiliation Policy for all recreation groups in Brampton,
and in the formation of the Brampton Sports Alliance.
